The Key Lime Cafe is committed to
protecting your privacy online.
We also want to provide you with
the best possible experience on
our site. In order to do this, we
do gather some personal information
about you that helps us to make
this site everything our guests
desire. Please read the following
policy to understand how your personal
information will be treated as you
make full use of our website. This
policy is subject to change, so
please be sure to check back periodically.
What
information do we collect?
The Key Lime Cafe collects information
from its guests in a few different
ways.
NEWSLETTER SIGN-UP: When you sign
up for our newsletter, you fill
out a form that asks for personal
information that allows us to send
you the newsletter (name, email
address), questions that help us
to better understand the demographics
of our guests (sex, age, city, state,
zip code and country), and questions
that allow us to understand what
draws our guests to the site (island
interests, how you found us).
SERVER ACTIVITY: When you initially
log on to the Key Lime Cafe site,
our server, like most, automatically
records your generic IP address
(usually the name of your internet
service provider) the site that
referred you to us, the pages you
request and information about the
brand and version of your browser.
For example, if you found us through
Yahoo and AOL is your internet service
provider, when you log on to our
site, our server would record that
an AOL user logged on to the Key
Lime Cafe and was refereed by Yahoo.
Our server does not know your name,
your user name, or any other personal
information - only the name of your
ISP.
What information do third parties
on keylimecafe.com collect?
Due to the nature of the Key Lime
Cafe, we have many links to sites
not on keylimecafe.com. Those sites
may ask for additional personal
information as part of doing business.
For example, when purchasing a CD
featured at the Key Lime Cafe, your
browser will open up a new window
at Amazon.com. In order to complete
the sale, Amazon.com will most likely
ask for your name, address, credit
card information and more.
When you leave the Key Lime Cafe,
we have no control over the information
that third parties collect or how
they use that information. The acts
and practices of those third parties
are not covered by this Privacy
Policy. We encourage you to read
the privacy policies of those sites
individually if you have concerns
about the information they request.
What are cookies and how do we use
them?
Cookies are small bits of data
that are sent to your browser and
stored on your computer. Cookies
are generally used to record the
preferences of users and to facilitate
a more personalized web experience.
The Key Lime Cafe does not currently
use cookies.
What
do we do with the information we
collect?
Our primary purpose in collecting
personal information is to better
understand the demographics and
collective makeup of our guests
to allow us to make the Key Lime
Cafe everything our guests desire.
For example, if we know that 90
percent of our guests are here seeking
drink recipes, we can devote more
resources to expanding that section
of our site.
Here is a summary of how we use
your personal information:
We collect your name and email address
when you fill out the form signing
up for our newsletter, and use this
information exclusively to send
you the newsletter. We do not sell
or distribute our email list to
third parties or advertisers without
your consent. However, our monthly
newsletter does contain a limited
amount of advertising.
We occasionally distribute advertisements
to a list of our guests who specifically
request such mailings by checking
the "send me offers" box
on the sign-up form. If you wish
to receive these offers, email us
at offers@keylimecafe.com . If you
are receiving offers you didn't
request, or no longer wish to receive
these offers, email us at nooffers@keylimecafe.com.
You will receive an email confirming
your removal from this list.
We share aggregate information with
our sponsors and advertisers such
as the number of visitors we receive,
the percentages of males and females,
the percentages from certain cities
and states, and percentages of what
our guests were seeking. For example,
we might share with an advertiser
that 40 percent of our guests were
females between 30-40 and of that
percentage, half were looking for
information on cigars. This allows
us to attract advertisers that better
represent the interests of our guests,
but under no circumstances do we
share your email address or names
with these advertisers.
We generically track the pages requested
by guests to better understand the
collective browsing habits of our
users. For example if 90 percent
of our gests are going to the drink
recipes page, it allows us to know
that perhaps we should expand that
section. At no point are we able
to determine that a particular person
used a particular page, nor are
we able to link that activity with
your name or email address.
Third-Party
Warrantees
Due to the nature of the Key Lime
Cafe, we have many links to retailers
and sites other than keylimecafe.com.
Although we do our best to ensure
that all sites listed here are reputable,
inclusion on keylimecafe.com does
not imply an endorsement or approval
of a site, and we make no warranties
or guarantees, implicit or implied,
to the services provided or the
products sold on those third-party
sites. If you have a dispute with
a third-party site that was linked
to the Key Lime Cafe you need to
contact that site direct to resolve
that dispute.
We are, however, interested in
knowing if several of our guests
have a problem with a specific site.
If you should have a problem with
a site (even if it's just a broken
link) please email us at links@keylimecafe.com
.
Your
Consent
By using our web site you consent
to the collection of your personal
information as outlined in this
privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
This policy is subject to change
and all changes will be posted here.
It is our goal to allow our guests
to know at all times what information
we collect, whom we share it with
and how we use it. We take your
privacy seriously.
